On Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m. EST, Faith in Action will host the #InvestinLoveChat! The one-hour Twitter chat will feature Nanci Palacios, Community Organizer with Faith in Florida, and Michael-Ray Mathews, Deputy Director of Faith in Action. This event will take place during the Invest in Love Week of Action and it will kick-off the #InvestinLove campaign online!

Throughout the hour, Faith in Action will facilitate the discussion and share why Congress needs to divest from immoral systems that tear families apart and invest in funding for health care, education, gun violence prevention programs, and infrastructure to bolster economies and communities across the country. During the #InvestinLoveChat, we will also discuss what clergy and people of faith are doing to urge congressional leaders to invest in love.

We are launching this campaign because we need a federal budget that creates hope rather than fear. In 2005, Rosa Gutierrez Lopez fled El Salvador after facing harassment from machete-carrying farmworkers. Since then she has taken sanctuary at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church to avoid being permanently separated from her three U.S.-born children.

The 40-year-old mother of three children under the age of 11, including one with Down Syndrome, sought help in the community. DMV Sanctuary Congregation Network helped her find refuge at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church.

Voting is one of the most important actions that we can take in order to hold our elected leaders accountable. Every year, millions of people across the country are unable to vote because they miss the registration deadline, don’t have a chance to update their registration information, or are unsure how to register.
