BROCKTON — When someone goes to a food pantry, they are often asked for their identification or personal information.
But for some people, including undocumented immigrants who live on the margins of society, that can be a barrier or a deterrent from getting the food assistance they need during this time of economic turmoil, said Isabel Lopez, founder and president of the Brockton Workers Alliance.
Many of these same people are deeply in need due to the fact they are ineligible for federal stimulus checks and unemployment benefits that have been given to American citizens impacted by the coronavirus crisis, Lopez said. The Brockton Workers Alliance is trying to make sure they don’t fall through the cracks, she said.
